Is your accent part of your identity?

I think the accent is part of my identity, for example when I went to guatemala i saw that my friends managed to see that my accent was when we talked tico. They began to try to talk like me but could not they said certain words were in a funny way. Identity is incredible that people have other languages very easily define, our accent is important because it is so we take our culture to other parts of the world.
In conclusion it is very nice for me to maintain a characteristic, accent that identities us as a country, life is short and we know other cultures and we are all part of one world.
